The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared a former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, wanted.
The EFCC stated this in a notice signed by its Head, Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.
“The public is hereby notified that Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Receiving Stolen Properties,” It said in the notice posted on its official X handle on Wednesday.
The agency urged anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts to contact it through its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja.
“Maina, 61, is an indigene of Biu in Borno State. Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices or through 08093322644; its e-mail address: info@efcc.gov.ng or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies,” it added.
In 2020, Maina was extradited to Nigeria to face his ongoing money laundering trial.
He was arrested in Niamey, the capital of the Republic, after he jumped bail and was declared wanted by an Abuja High Court.
Maina was standing trial for alleged money laundering to the tune of ₦2 billion before he was extradited in 2020.
