Egypt beat Australia 4-2 on penalties to reach World Cup last 16

Hossam Abdelmaguid scored the decisive penalty as Egypt beat Australia 4-2 on penalties after they finished level at 1-1 following extra time on Friday to reach the World Cup last 16.

The game went to extra time after a second-half Mohamed Hany own goal cancelled out Emam Ashour’s early opener for Egypt.

They will play either Argentina or Cape Verde in the next round.
