GUSAU — The Matawalle Political Movement (MPM) has felicitated Muslims in Zamfara State and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid-el-Maulud celebration, urging them to emulate the virtues and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
The group, in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau, on Tuesday, said the 1448 Maulud celebration provided an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings on peace, unity, love and peaceful coexistence.
The statement, issued on behalf of the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle, said the teachings of Prophet Muhammad covered various aspects of human life and remained worthy of emulation by Muslims.
The movement urged Muslims to use the occasion for prayers for peace and stability in Zamfara State and Nigeria.
“Let’s use the Maulud preachings and prayer sessions to supplicate Allah for the return of peace in our dear state and Nigeria at large,” the statement said.
The group noted that this year’s Maulud celebration came at a significant time for Nigeria, particularly as preparations were underway for another election cycle.
It therefore called for prayers for peaceful elections and divine guidance for the country.
“You will realise therefore that at this critical time, we and our great nation need prayers the most for Allah to continue to guide us through the election season where no one will be under any threat,” it said.
The movement also urged Muslims to uphold the good virtues of Prophet Muhammad while seeking divine assistance for the country.
It prayed that the Maulud celebration would bring blessings and peace to Muslims and Nigerians in general.
