Ekiti declares Monday work-free for Teachers to mark world Teachers’ day.

The Ekiti State Government has declared Monday, October 5, 2026, a work-free day for teachers across the state to enable them participate fully in activities marking the 2026 World Teachers’ Day.

The State Commissioner for Education, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, said the gesture was to give teachers the opportunity to join colleagues and stakeholders in celebrating the annual event and highlighting their vital role in the education sector.

Consequently, all day students in public schools across the state are to stay at home on Monday, October 5, 2026.

The Commissioner urged parents, guardians, school authorities and students to take note of the arrangement and make the necessary preparations.

He commended Ekiti teachers for their dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds and advancing the State’s education system.

The Commissioner congratulated teachers on the occasion of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, assuring them of the State Government’s continued recognition, support and appreciation for their invaluable contributions to the development of education and the future of Ekiti children.
