Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has dissolved the State Executive Council following a valedictory meeting with members of his cabinet as his administration prepares for a second term.
The meeting, held at the Exco Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti, served as the cabinet’s final gathering before the commencement of the governor’s second term.
Oyebanji described the outgoing cabinet members as a strong and committed team whose contributions had helped his government fulfil its promises to the people of Ekiti State.
He expressed gratitude for the grace, wisdom and opportunity to serve the state, adding that his administration had remained focused on making Ekiti a better place for its residents.
The governor also thanked the cabinet members for their support and roles in implementing government policies and programmes, assuring them that he would remain in touch with them after their exit from the council.
However, Oyebanji clarified that the dissolution did not affect the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro; the Chief of Staff, Adeniyi Adebayo; or the Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, who would continue in their respective positions.
In their separate remarks, members of the dissolved council reflected on their experiences in government and expressed appreciation to the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve Ekiti State under his leadership.
The valedictory session also featured the cutting of a cake to mark the end of the cabinet’s tenure.
Oyebanji, who was re-elected in the June 20 governorship election, is scheduled to be sworn in for a second term on Friday, October 16, 2026.
