Enugu Assembly dissolves health committee over alleged misconduct, highhandedness

The Enugu State House of Assembly has dissolved its Committee on Health over alleged gross misconduct and highhandedness.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Chief Uche Ugwu, announced the dissolution of the Committee on Tuesday during its plenary in Enugu.

The affected members are Mr Okechukwu Aneke (Udi South), Mr Harrison Ogara (Igbo-Eze South), Mr Osita Okoh (Enugu East Urban) and Mr Anthony Nwankwo (Awgu South).

Chief Ugwu said the dissolution became necessary following the unruly behaviour exhibited by the committee chairman, Okechukwu Aneke, at the last executive session on September 21.

The Speaker also accused Aneke of alleged highhandedness in the running of the Committee.

Ugwu, however, set up a five-man ad hoc disciplinary committee headed by Mr Iloabuchi Aniagu to investigate the matter and report back to the Assembly in 14 days.

The House also received a report on the annual accounts of the Enugu State for the year ended 31st December, 2025.
