Manchester United midfielder Youri Tielemans has criticised their performance in their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Belgian midfielder said that the team was careless and should have capitalised on their opportunities to win the game.
The Red Devils faced their rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford in the first derby of the Premier League season on Sunday.
The hosts got a huge advantage in the 23rd minute when Phil Foden was shown a red card.
However, it was Manchester City that opened the scoring in the 60th minute, with Erling Haaland executing a superb finish from close range.
Michael Carrick’s team sought to equalise but ultimately fell short, losing 1-0 despite facing 10 men.
Following the match, Manchester United’s summer signing Youri Tielemans told reporters, as quoted by Centredevils:
“We should not have allowed that goal. I believe we did not create enough chances to secure a victory today. We were careless with the ball, lost possession too frequently, and failed to make the correct decisions in the final third. Aside from the goal they scored, I don’t think they had many opportunities. It is what it is, and we lost the match.”
