EPL: Danny Murphy names Arsenal’s nearest rivals for title race, picks top four

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Former Liverpool star, Danny Murphy, has named Manchester City as Arsenal’s nearest rival for the race to win the Premier League title this season.

Murphy also picked Arsenal as the clear favourites to win the Premier League, while Manchester City will finish in second position, Liverpool in third and Manchester United in fourth place.

He stated this while speaking to BBC Sport ahead of the Premier League opening fixtures this weekend.

Explaining his decision for picking Arsenal to finish number one, and Manchester City as number two, Murphy said, “Mikel Arteta didn’t need to spend half the pre-season drilling them [Arsenal players] with his methods like a new manager has to.

“I look at the firepower Man City have got and, whoever the manager is and whoever they are playing against, they are still going to be able to score a lot of goals and win a lot of games.

“I would still have them as being Arsenal’s nearest rivals,” he said.
