EPL: Erling Haaland pinpoints advantage Arsenal have over Man City this season

Daily Post about 1 hour 2 mins read

Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland, has said that the club remains in a “rebuilding phase” compared to reigning Premier League champions Arsenal.

City have witnessed a tumultuous summer marked by the exit of Pep Guardiola and several key players, including Rodri, Bernardo Silva and John Stones.

However, the team has made a promising start under new manager Enzo Maresca, maintaining a perfect start to the league season with a 1-0 victory over Coventry City on Saturday.

Haaland netted the decisive goal early in the first half, converting Antoine Semenyo’s excellent cross in the 26th minute.

Despite the transitional summer, City are still regarded as one of Arsenal’s primary challengers for the league title this season.

The Gunners will face their toughest challenge of the season so far on Sunday when they meet Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea at the Emirates.

Haaland said Mikel Arteta’s squad is already in a strong position heading into the campaign, having developed as a cohesive team under the Spaniard over several years.

Speaking after City’s 1-0 win over Coventry City, Haaland was quoted by Viaplay as saying: “Arsenal have played together for a long time and have built this up over a longer period, a bit like City had when I first joined.

“We are still undergoing a sort of rebuilding phase, but I must say the transfer window has been exceptional.

“Kudos to the club and its personnel. Primarily, they have recruited outstanding footballers, as well as remarkable individuals who integrate seamlessly. So, congratulations to the entire club.”
