Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has hit out at Manchester United midfielder Carlos Baleba, insisting that the Cameroonian doesn’t know the role of sitting and protecting defenders.
Sherwood warned Man United to sign someone who can play the role, as he insisted that Baleba is an all-action player.
“Manchester United need someone in there protecting the defenders. I don’t think Carlos Baleba is that guy,” Sherwood said on Sky Sports News.
“I think Baleba is all-action; he is all over the pitch. You just wind him up and just can’t stop him until the end of the game, but I’m not sure he knows the game to just protect and sit in front of the defence. They are going to need that,” he said.
Baleba joined the Red Devils from Brighton during the summer transfer window, and he is yet to play for Michael Carrick’s side.
