EPL: Jay Bothroyd names two strikers Arsenal should’ve signed instead of Gyökeres

Former Coventry City striker, Jay Bothroyd, has named the two strikers Arsenal should have signed instead of Viktor Gyökeres.

Arsenal signed Gyökeres from Sporting CP in the summer of 2025.

However, Bothroyd believes Mikel Arteta’s side should have signed Alexander Isak from Newcastle United or Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Isak and Ekitike eventually joined Liverpool from Newcastle United and Eintracht Frankfurt, respectively.

Speaking to the Football Uncensored podcast about the striker Arsenal should have signed instead of Gyökeres, Bothroyd said, according to Metro UK: “I wanted [Arsenal] to get Alexander Isak from Newcastle; I think that was the perfect signing.

“Then Hugo Ekitike, that was a perfect signing,” he added.
