Former Arsenal player, Jeremie Aliadiere, has noted that three players could significantly influence the Gunners’ performance in the 2026-27 season.
The ex-striker made the comment prior to the season’s kickoff, as Mikel Arteta’s team prepare to defend the Premier League title they secured last season.
Aliadiere told Tribal Football that the Gunners are strong contenders to reclaim the league title.
However, he noted that their success may depend on the fitness of the trio consisting of William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice.
He said, “I believe so, yes. Arsenal already possesses an excellent squad, but their current investment represents a significant move and a declaration of their intent to advance and defend their title. Therefore, in my opinion, Arsenal has the most formidable squad to win the title again.
“But what could potentially go awry? Well, (Bukayo) Saka and (Declan) Rice are expected to return to the squad soon, and the critical question is how long it will take for them to regain full fitness and whether Arsenal can perform optimally in their absence.
“Saka and Rice are pivotal players, and if their recovery takes time, Arsenal might face challenges. Additionally, with (William) Saliba also sidelined for a period, they will lack the dependable partnership of Saliba and Gabriel, raising the question of whether (Cristhian) Mosquera, Hincapie, or (Riccardo) Calafiori can step up to partner with Gabriel and help Arsenal start the season positively?
“These are concerns, but I am confident that with a larger and more robust squad, Arsenal can navigate any challenges.”
