EPL: ‘Schoolboy defending’ – Rooney blasts Luke Shaw after Man Utd loss to Hull City

Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, has slammed defender, Luke Shaw following the team’s 2-0 Premier League defeat to Hull City on Saturday.

Man United failed to win their opening Premier League fixture of the season at the MKM Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Two goals from Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy gave the hosts victory over the Red Devils.

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, Rooney was not pleased with Shaw’s defending for the second goal, as the England left-back dropped off to play Hull’s entire attacking line onside.

The former England international described Shaw’s defending as “schoolboy” defending.

“This is schoolboy defending from Luke Shaw.

“Man United had a good line. Hull would have been waiting for this all day. Luke Shaw drops in; he’s five yards behind his back line, and if the ball is good enough, which it was, it’s impossible to stop,” Rooney said.

Man United will face Ipswich Town next weekend at Old Trafford.
