Coventry City manager, Frank Lampard has hailed Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi for his exceptional versatility.
He further explained why the Nigerian international distinguished himself during their time together at Everton.
Iwobi was outstanding under Lampard at Everton, scoring 11 goals across 40 appearances in all competitions, predominantly functioning as a midfielder.
Following his transfer from Arsenal in summer 2019, Iwobi encountered initial challenges during his time at Everton.
However, he delivered impressive performances throughout Lampard's time at the club.
Lampard acknowledged Iwobi's technical proficiency alongside that of fellow teammates, Joshua King and Oscar Bobb.
The Coventry manager was responding to Iwobi's recent statement that he believed Lampard had resurrected his career at Everton.
Lampard told reporters, "Resurrecting seems too strong, but I'll let him say those words because he was always a good player, maybe in a tough moment at Everton.
"Upon my arrival, the club was faced with difficulties. I simply emphasized the importance of demonstrating value during training sessions to secure team selection, and it rapidly became evident at Everton that Alex's technical quality, professional dedication, and consistency maintained exceptionally high standards.
"He was very versatile as well, enabling him to fulfill various roles during periods of critical necessity.
"When we confronted the threat of relegation, Alex possessed the capability to operate in any position while maintaining an exceptionally high performance level."
"Furthermore, there exists a compelling quality to his presence as a player—his capacity to influence match outcomes and his demeanor within the team environment.
"Should he choose to acknowledge my contribution, I welcome it. However, I would not assume substantial responsibility, as considerable effort originated from his own dedication.
"And if you go, who are your top players you play with that really made a difference for you, Alex Iwobi is very, very high on that list," he added.
Iwobi opened his goalscoring account for the 2026-27 season in Everton’s 1-0 win over Hull City at Craven Cottage last weekend.
