Ex-Kano dep gov’s son petitions police over alleged defamation

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

For allegedly defaming his father’s character and dragging his reputation through the mud, the eldest son of the former Kano State Deputy Governor, Mujahid Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has filed a petition against the Director General of Media and Publicity to the Kano State Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, before the Commissioner of Police over alleged defamation.

The petition was submitted to the Kano State Commissioner of Police on June 17, 2026, by his lawyer, Barr. Nazifi Yusuf Gorondutse.

It alleged that Sunusi Bature mentioned Mujahid Gwarzo’s name during a political gathering held on June 13, 2026, where he linked him to the receipt of what was described as “Awalaja” from the chairmen of the 44 local government areas in Kano State.

The petition further alleged that a video of the speech was circulated on social media, which it said damaged the reputation of the complainant.

The lawyer urged the police command to investigate the matter and take appropriate action in accordance with the law.
