Ex-Power Minister Saleh Mamman forfeits additional properties to FG

Daily Post about 4 hours 2 mins read

Former Minister of Power Saleh Mamman has forfeited five more properties to the Federal Government following a ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced on X that Justice James Omotosho ordered the forfeiture after finding that one of the properties was purchased with proceeds of crime.

According to the EFCC: “Forfeited permanently among them is Walijam Apartments, located on No. 43, Plot 435, Lobito Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja.”

The commission said four other properties were placed under interim forfeiture. They include Bloom Luxury Suites Nigeria Limited in Unguwan Rimi, Kaduna State; two mansions on Misratah Street, Wuse 2, Abuja; and A.U.A Plaza on Kade Street, Wuse 2, Abuja.

The court held that the EFCC had proven that Walijam Apartments was acquired with funds derived from unlawful activities.

Justice Omotosho also directed the anti-graft agency to publish the interim forfeiture order in a national newspaper within seven days, so that anyone with an interest in the remaining four properties may appear in court and show cause why they should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

Mamman was prosecuted by the EFCC on a 12-count amended charge bordering on corruption and money laundering involving N33.8 billion. He was convicted on all counts on May 7, 2026, and sentenced to 75 years in prison on May 13, 2026.

The EFCC added that “while ill-gotten assets were recovered from him in the course of the trial, the judge further ordered him to refund the N22 billion the Commission successfully traced to him.”
