The Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, has come under public scrutiny following a viral video where she was captured laughing off calls for her resignation amid a growing crisis over counterfeit food and drugs.
The controversial moment occurred during a recent NAFDAC press briefing organized to address the proliferation of suspected fake yoghurt, adulterated palm oil and counterfeit beverages circulating in Nigerian markets.
When a journalist brought up the widespread public demand for her to step down over the agency’s failure to curb the hazard, Adeyeye burst into laughter, brushing off the suggestion.
