“Family’s Personal Assistant Supplied Information To Kidnappers On Movements Of Adelabu’s Sister, Children” – Police

The Oyo State Police Command says its investigation into the abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons has uncovered the alleged involvement of an insider who provided information to the kidnappers.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this during an interview while giving an update on the investigation.

Mrs. John-Paul, a sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons were abducted on June 3, 2026, in the Elewura area of Ring Road, Ibadan.

The victims were later rescued during a police operation in which two suspected kidnappers were killed, according to the police.

Ayanlade said one of the principal suspects, identified as Ololu, had been on the police watch list before his arrest.

He added that intelligence gathered during the investigation led to the arrest of another suspect known as Dare, also called Solution.

According to the police spokesperson, investigators also arrested a personal assistant attached to the family who is alleged to have supplied information about the family’s movements and routine to the kidnappers.

Police further alleged that the suspects initially planned to abduct the children’s mother before changing their target based on information about the family’s daily activities.

Ayanlade said the victims were traced to a hideout in Ibadan and rescued during an operation conducted on June 6.

He stated that two suspects were killed during an exchange of gunfire with security operatives, while weapons were recovered from the scene.

The police said investigations are ongoing and that efforts are being intensified to apprehend other suspects believed to have escaped.
