ABUJA — The FCT Police Command has re-arrested two ex-convicts, Rose Daniel and Blessing John, for allegedly abducting and trafficking children, rescuing a four-year-old girl in Kuje, Abuja.
The suspects were arrested on August 27, 2026, while allegedly attempting to escape with the child, identified as Ummi Mariam Abdullah.
FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence and an alert from a concerned member of the community who witnessed the incident.
Adeh said: “Responding swiftly to the report, Police operatives arrived at the scene, rescued the child and arrested both suspects.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had previously been arrested in December 2025 and arraigned before a court in connection with a similar offence.
“They were subsequently convicted and released on bail after spending about five months in prison.”
According to her, further investigation revealed that the suspects had, since their release, allegedly abducted and trafficked four children to different parts of the country.
She said the most recent case involved two children who were allegedly taken to a regular accomplice in Port Harcourt, identified only as Madam Ijeoma, who allegedly purchased the children for N1.5 million each.
Adeh said the rescued four-year-old girl had been reunited with her family, while the two suspects remained in police custody as investigations continued.
“The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” she added.
The command urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the safety and whereabouts of their children and wards.
