The Flamingos of Nigeria have emerged champions of the 2026 WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup after completing a perfect campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over Togo in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Flamingos finished the competition unbeaten, recording five wins from five matches to underline their dominance throughout the tournament.
Captain Chidera Harmony was the star of the final, scoring twice from the penalty spot to give Nigeria a comfortable advantage before half-time.
Harmony converted her first penalty in the 15th minute before calmly dispatching another spot-kick 20 minutes later to send the Flamingos into the interval with a 2-0 lead.
Nigeria continued to control the contest after the restart, with Oluebube Umejiaku extending the advantage in the 67th minute.
The result was effectively beyond Togo by that stage, but the Flamingos continued to press for more goals as they sought to put the finishing touches to a remarkable campaign.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi completed the scoring in the 90th minute, making it 4-0 and triggering celebrations as Nigeria sealed the sub-regional title.
The triumph caps a remarkable tournament for the Flamingos, who combined attacking efficiency with defensive discipline on their way to a perfect record.
The victory over Togo therefore completes a five-match winning streak for Nigeria.

For coach Hakeem Busari and his players, the title provides another significant boost ahead of Nigeria’s preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
Meanwhile, the Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Emmanuel Ikpeme, has commended players and officials of the team for their excellent outing at the championship.
“The Flamingos have done very well, made the nation proud, and I have faith in the players that they are not done yet. I have confidence in the team to go to Morocco and achieve great things at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup that is starting next month.
“It is no mean feat to win five matches out of five in a tournament. That is a distinction. The NFF is appreciative of the WAFU-B headquarters for organising the tournament as a premium preparatory event for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, and I believe the Flamingos have benefitted immensely ahead of the global competition,” Ikpeme said.
The victorious 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup bronze-medallists will return to the country on Tuesday.
