Nigeria’s Flamingos have won the 2026 WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup after completing a perfect campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over Togo in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Flamingos finished the tournament unbeaten, recording five wins from five matches to underline their dominance throughout the competition.
Captain Chidera Harmony was the star of the final, scoring twice from the penalty spot as Nigeria took a commanding lead before half-time.
Harmony converted her first penalty in the 15th minute before doubling the advantage from another spot-kick 20 minutes later.
Nigeria went into the break with a 2-0 lead and continued to control proceedings after the restart.
Oluebube Umejiaku extended the Flamingos’ advantage in the 67th minute before Oluwakemi Adegbuyi completed the scoring in the 90th minute.
The victory sealed Nigeria’s fifth consecutive win of the tournament and capped a dominant campaign characterised by attacking efficiency and defensive discipline.
The title also provides a major boost for coach Hakeem Busari and his players as they continue preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco next month.
The Flamingos, bronze medallists at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, will now turn their attention to the global tournament.
