The Gambia Football Veterans Association (GFVA) recently elected a new executive committee to steer the affairs of the association and strengthen its contribution to the development of football in the country.
The new leadership emerged from an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held at Banjul Beach following the association’s regular meet-and-greet and training session.
The meeting was convened in accordance with Section 9.3 of the association’s constitution, with members using the occasion to revitalise the association and fill vacancies within its executive committee.
The association, in a letter addressed to the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), formally introduced the newly elected executive, which is expected to provide leadership and direction to the organisation in the coming period.
The newly elected executive committee comprises: Gibril Ngorr Secka – President
Ousman “Joe Tennis” Gomez – 1st Vice President
Ebou Loly Nite – 2nd Vice President
Essa Fye – Secretary General
Habib Jobe – Assistant Secretary General
Malick Camara – Treasurer
Lamin “Boy Banjul” Marong – Assistant Treasurer
Habib “Haps” – Auditor
Lamin Minteh – Assistant Auditor
Ebrima Bura Jallow – Public Relations Officer
Modou Balanta Janneh – Coordinator
Bai Malleh Wadda – Adviser
The association emphasised the important role football veterans continue to play in sustaining and promoting the development of football in The Gambia.
The election of the new committee is therefore seen as an important step towards strengthening the association and providing a platform for former players and football stakeholders to continue contributing their experience and expertise to the sport.
The newly elected executive is expected to work towards advancing the objectives of the association while maintaining its collaboration with the Gambia Football Federation and other stakeholders in the football fraternity.
The Gambia Football Veterans Association has also expressed its commitment to revitalising its activities and ensuring that the experience and knowledge of former footballers continue to benefit the development of the game in the country.
