Former Bauchi commissioner Faruk Mustapha resigns from APM

Daily Post about 4 hours 2 mins read

A former Commissioner for Special Duties and Rural Development in Bauchi State, Hon. Faruk Mustapha, has resigned from the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), ending his membership of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mustapha, who served as the Director-General of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s 2023 governorship campaign, had previously aspired to contest the governorship but did not secure the party’s ticket.

His resignation was contained in a letter dated May 5, 2026, addressed to the Bauchi State Chairman of the APM through the Ward Chairman of Nasarawa Bakin Kasuwa Ward in Katagum Local Government Area.

In the letter titled “Letter of Resignation from Membership of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM),” Mustapha stated that his resignation took immediate effect.

He said he was relinquishing all rights, privileges and responsibilities attached to his membership and requested that his name be removed from the party’s register.

The former commissioner also expressed appreciation to the party and its leadership for the support and opportunities extended to him during his time as a member.

Speaking with journalists, Mustapha confirmed his resignation, saying the decision followed extensive consultations and was taken in the interest of his political future.

Asked about his next political move, he said consultations were still ongoing.

“I am still consulting. Very soon, we will make public where we are heading for the 2027 general elections,” he said.

He also urged his supporters and political associates to remain calm, assuring them that they would be informed once a decision on his next political platform is reached.
