Former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu, has died after a prolonged illness.
Aliyu, a respected elder statesman and former public servant from Yauri Local Government Area, passed away on Friday at a hospital in Sokoto.
His death has drawn tributes from political leaders and residents, who remembered him for his years of dedicated service to Kebbi State.
Governor Nasir Idris described the former deputy governor’s death as a painful loss to the Yauri Emirate, Kebbi State and the nation.
The governor’s condolence message was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki.
According to the statement, Idris said the late Aliyu devoted his life to selfless service, integrity and the development of society, leaving behind a legacy of humility, commitment and exemplary leadership.
The governor extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, the people of the Yauri Emirate, friends and associates, praying Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give those he left behind the strength to bear the loss.
He noted that Aliyu’s contributions to the development of Kebbi State, both as a seasoned civil servant and later as deputy governor, would continue to inspire future generations.
Idris added that the late statesman would be remembered not only for his political achievements but also for his professionalism and dedication during his years in the civil service, where he earned widespread respect and admiration.
