Four parties missing as INEC lists 15 governorship candidates in Bauchi

Daily Post 20 minutes 2 mins read

The Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Action Alliance (AA) and Accord Party are missing from the list of candidates published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election.

The commission’s list, released on Saturday, features 15 governorship candidates and their running mates for the contest to succeed Governor Bala Mohammed.

The absence of the four parties leaves their participation in the race uncertain, with INEC yet to explain why their candidates were not included in the published list.

The parties whose candidates appeared on the list include the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), African Action Congress (AAC) and Labour Party (LP).

Also featured are the Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Action Peoples Party (APP), New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP) and National Rescue Movement (NRM).

Neither the commission nor the affected parties had clarified the situation as of the time of filing this report.

The omission comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 governorship contest, which will determine who takes over from Mohammed at the end of his tenure.
