The free medical outreach at the palace of the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umaru Faruk Bahago, offered an opportunity to receive medical attention without the burden of paying for consultation and medication.

‎Like many other beneficiaries, Hassan Abdul arrived at the outreach seeking medical assistance and was taken through a process that included checking his blood pressure, consulting a doctor and receiving medication based on his complaints.

‎He expressed satisfaction with the organisation of the exercise, commending the doctors and organisers for providing the service.

‎“They checked my blood pressure and gave me a number. After that, I went to see the doctor, who asked me about my problem. After explaining it, I was given medication,” Hassan said.

‎Mairo Muhammad said the outreach offered hope for addressing a problem with her eyes.

‎Mairo said she attended the programme after hearing that free medical services would be available, expressing happiness at the opportunity to receive attention for her eye complaint.

‎She also had her blood pressure checked, which she said was recorded at 160, although the unit and clinical interpretation were not specified.

A cross-section of residents seated to be attended to at the outreach.

‎Grateful for the intervention, Mairo prayed for God’s blessings on the organisers for extending medical assistance to residents.

‎The two beneficiaries were among residents who attended the free medical outreach organised by the Karnati Foundation in collaboration with Mohammed Jamuje, an APC candidate for the Niger State House of Assembly, at the Emir’s palace in Minna.

‎Speaking during the exercise, Chairman of the Karnati Foundation, Musa Abubakar, said the outreach was part of the foundation’s efforts to improve access to healthcare and support vulnerable members of society.

‎Abubakar explained that the foundation began providing relief materials and medical assistance to communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that its activities had since expanded to include education, agriculture, food support and other interventions for less-privileged people.

‎He described the exercise as the foundation’s seventh medical outreach in Minna, with between 1,500 and 2,000 people expected to benefit from the programme.

‎According to him, the outreach was designed to provide basic medical checks, consultations and medication for residents with different health complaints, including diabetes and other conditions. Arrangements were also being made to refer patients requiring further medical attention for additional assessment.

‎Abubakar said the foundation intended to extend similar interventions to other senatorial districts of Niger State, stressing that access to healthcare was essential to improving the well-being of communities.

‎He added that the initiative was motivated by the desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives, noting that community service did not necessarily require enormous resources but a willingness to help others.

‎The foundation chairman expressed satisfaction with the turnout and organisation of the exercise, describing the happiness of beneficiaries as a major motivation for sustaining the programme.

‎For beneficiaries such as Hassan and Mairo, the outreach provided an opportunity to consult health professionals and receive medical attention, underscoring the importance of community-based interventions in bringing healthcare services closer to residents.
