Friendly: Portugal boss Martinez braces for tough encounter with Super Eagles

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez is bracing up for a difficult duel against the Super Eagles, DAILY POST reports.

Seleção das Quinas will test their might against the three-time African champions at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria on Wednesday night.

The encounter will serve as a test for the Europeans, who will face an African opposition, Democratic Republic of Congo in the group stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Martinez labelled the Super Eagles a demanding opponent with a lot tactical flexibility.

The gaffer reckoned Éric Chelle’s side will help prepare his team for the task ahead.

“Against Nigeria, we have an opportunity to work on aspects that are similar to the strengths that Congo also has. It’s a different African team, with a lot of tactical flexibility. It’s a demanding opponent, it’s another test to prepare our group,” Martinez was quoted by the authoritative Portuguese website ojogo.
