An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has advised the three suspects standing trial for the alleged murder of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Lasisi Oluwamayokun, and her young daughter, Adesewa, to secure legal representation before proceedings commence.

The defendants, 39-year-old Gboyega Daramola, 38-year-old Sunday James, and 36-year-old Fajemirokun Victor, were brought to court for arraignment on Monday.

However, when the case was called, state prosecutor, Muyiwa Ogunleye, informed the court that he had been unable to serve the defendants with the information papers.

Ogunleye explained that he received notification of the court proceedings late last Wednesday and was consequently unable to reach the defendants in time to serve them.

He urged the court to grant a short adjournment to allow the prosecution to complete the necessary legal steps for a proper arraignment.

Speaking with journalists after the session, Ogunleye disclosed that the state has lined up eight witnesses, including four police officers.

He expressed confidence that the trial could begin and reach a conclusion on the next adjourned date, subject to the court’s schedule.

The case stems from the tragic disappearance of 38-year-old Oluwamayokun and her daughter, who went missing on Sunday, November 2, 2025, after leaving their home at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

They were later confirmed dead after being allegedly lured by Fajemirokun, a male acquaintance of the victim.

Fajemirokun was subsequently arrested and later confessed during a police parade at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo to luring the victims to their deaths at the hands of ritualists, alongside the two herbalists, Daramola and James.

Justice Yinka Aderibigbe has adjourned the matter to December 8 for hearing.

The suspects were, however, returned to Ilesa correctional facility.
