FRSC warns motorists against speeding on Bauchi-Jos highway

Daily Post about 1 hour 2 mins read

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned motorists plying the Bauchi-Jos highway to slow down or risk causing avoidable crashes and fatalities.

The warning came from the Bauchi State Sector Commander of the Corps, CC Caleb Luka, who said excessive speed by drivers, particularly commercial motorists, was among the major road safety concerns he had identified since assuming office.

Luka spoke in Bauchi while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the 2026 International Customer Service Week celebration.

According to him, the level of speeding by motorists on the Bauchi-Jos road was alarming, urging drivers to comply with approved speed limits.

He said motorists should be more concerned about arriving safely at their destinations than getting there quickly.

“The best journey is to arrive at your destination safely, not so fast,” Luka said.

The FRSC commander also took aim at tipper truck drivers operating within Bauchi metropolis, accusing some of them of careless driving.

He warned that the careless handling of the trucks could endanger other road users and lead to fatal crashes.

Luka said the volume of traffic in Bauchi was high because of the state’s strategic position connecting communities across the North-East, North-Central and North-West.

He, however, said the state’s road network provided motorists with an opportunity to practise safer driving.

He urged drivers to combine the relatively good road network with responsible driving habits and make use of safety information provided by the FRSC.

On Customer Service Week, Luka said the celebration had enabled the Corps to engage its stakeholders and road users on how to improve service delivery.
