What they’re presenting is Tinubu’s house of commotion. It doesn’t make any sense.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“None of those people at the press conference represent the NNPC. NNPC is a government agency that has its own management.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“There’s no account in the Ministry of Finance that deals with fuel discounts. One month is not even short-term. It’s a flash in the pan.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“They didn’t refer to any law that authorized them to do the fuel discount. This means if the landing cost is N1,300 per litre, the company will sell at N1,300 without adding any margin.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The measure, which has the backing of President Bola Tinubu, is expected to prioritise public transport operators and offer some relief to households struggling with high transport and living costs.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Oyedele stressed that the decision should not be seen as a return to the petrol subsidy removed by Tinubu on May 29, 2023. Pump prices should not have to follow every swing in global crude or exchange rate.
