The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a major destination for citizens from African countries, particularly for tourism, business and transit.
While many African passport holders must obtain a UAE visa before travelling, citizens of four African countries currently enjoy visa-free entry to the UAE on ordinary passports, according to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
The countries are Mauritius and Seychelles. The UAE’s official travel database lists ordinary/normal passport holders from each of the four countries as “Visa Free.”
- Mauritius
Mauritian passport holders also enjoy visa-free access to the UAE.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ latest information, updated on September 11, 2026, lists normal Mauritian passports as “Visa Free.” Travellers are advised to have a passport valid for at least six months and to carry the necessary travel documents and funds.
- Seychelles
Seychellois citizens also benefit from visa-free entry to the UAE.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists normal Seychelles passports as “Visa Free.” The country’s latest UAE travel information was updated on September 8, 2026. The same information states that tourism stays of up to three months upon arrival are permitted under the relevant arrangement.
