Ghana unveils 5-year plan to tackle heavy metals in food

Ghana has launched a five-year national plan to tackle heavy-metal contamination in food and strengthen measures to protect consumers from harmful substances that can pose serious health risks. The National Strategic Plan for Heavy Metals Reduction in Food (2026 ndash;2030) provides a coordinated framework for reducing exposure to contaminants such as lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic across the food system.
