Two Ghanaian twins and an American woman have pleaded guilty in the United States to conspiracy to commit wire fraud over a US$9 million romance scam that allegedly targeted mainly elderly victims. Court records show that twin brothers Jamal Abubakari and Kamal Abubakari, both 22, together with Amanda Joy Opoku-Boachie, 53, admitted their roles in the scheme.
