“Give Them Jigi Bola” — First Lady Mocks Nigerians Not Seeing Tinubu’s Progress

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed hope for a better Nigeria by 2031, saying she looks forward to leaving Aso Rock and enjoying the country as an elderly woman after her husband’s administration.

She made the remark on Friday, October 23, 2026, during the inauguration of the headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja, an initiative set up ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

Speaking at the event, the First Lady said she hoped that by the time she leaves the Presidential Villa in 2031, Nigeria would have made significant progress and become a country where she could comfortably enjoy her later years.

“I want to leave Aso Rock in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that I, as a 70-something-year-old woman, will enjoy,” she said.

To support her optimism, Remi Tinubu pointed to the ongoing changes at Nigerian airports, noting that improvements in the country’s aviation facilities were signs that progress was being made.

“I want to get to the airport and travel quickly, you know. You can see that our airports are changing, so things are happening in Nigeria,” she stated.

The First Lady also took a playful swipe at Nigerians who, in her view, have failed to acknowledge the progress being made under her husband’s administration. She jokingly suggested that such people might need special glasses to see the changes.

“Those who don’t see, maybe we’ll give them some Bola Tinubu eyeglasses. We are doing that, Jigibola,” she added.

Following her remarks, she officially commissioned the movement’s headquarters in Abuja, reaffirming her support for President Tinubu’s ambition to secure a second term in office in the 2027 presidential election.
