Glasgow 2026: Adama storms into 50m freestyle semi-finals

Team Nigeria’s Abduljabar Adama has qualified for the men’s 50m freestyle semi-final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, DAILY POST reports.

Adama, who is the Nigerian national record holder clocked 22.67s to finish third in his heat.

He finished behind Australia’s Flynn Southam 22.03s, and England’s Jacob Mills 22.40s.

It was, however a disappointing outing for Adama’s compatriot Clinton Opute, who finished sixth in his heat in 23.15s.

Opute is currently in the second reserve for the semi-finals should a qualifier withdraw.

Team Nigeria enjoyed a memorable opening day at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, winning three gold, and three silver medals.
