The third week of the Nathaniel Idowu U-16 Football League delivered fireworks, with goals flying across the pitches and storylines beginning to take shape.
League leaders Fortune FA extended their unbeaten run in emphatic fashion, dismantling Seraphic in the biggest win of the season so far. After a tense opening, Adebayo Lateef broke the deadlock in the 30th minute. From there, the floodgates opened.
Odesola Odunayo bagged a brilliant hat-trick (35’, 80’, 85’), while Akanbi Quadri (40’) and Adetola Faizor (90’, 90+2’) piled on the misery. Seraphic have now conceded 17 goals in just three matches — a defensive crisis that threatens their campaign.
After a promising 2-2 draw in Week 1, Moore Wins are spiraling. St. Petersburg struck early through Tajudeen Abdulrasaq (10’) and Olajide Dolapo (20’). Though Israel Igoh pulled one back in the 50th minute, the damage had already been done — Emmanuel Ebube’s 48th-minute strike sealed a ruthless 3-1 win.
Young Eleven passed their first real test of the season, ending Bright Stars’ unbeaten run. Osbert Samuel opened the scoring (30’), but Sheriff equalized (40’). The second half belonged to Young Eleven, with Lati (50’) and Raphael (80’) securing a statement victory. With only two goals conceded in three games, they boast the league’s best defence.
In the day’s most dramatic clash, two winless sides went head-to-head. Atico looked set for victory after goals from Korede and Adewale, but Heritage roared back. Joshua Garba, Jonathan Norbert, and Chukwuemeka Bryan all found the net to complete a stunning turnaround. Heritage’s first win lifts them out of the relegation zone and injects belief into their campaign.
After humiliating Divinely Blessed 6-0 last week, Ajegunle showed their form is no fluke. The game was tight until the hour mark, but then Ajegunle took control: Peter Adoga (57’), Akindipe Timilehin (68’), and the in-form Onyebuchi Okolo (81’) made it 3-0. Kosi grabbed a late consolation (90+2’) for Divinely Blessed, but the damage was done.
Ajegunle have now recorded back-to-back wins (4-0 and 3-1) and look like genuine challengers to Fortune FA’s dominance.
