Gombe police officers urged to uphold professionalism, human rights

By Ben Ngwakwe, Gombe

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 12, Bauchi, AIG Vungmoh S.M. Kwaimoh, has charged officers and men of the Gombe State Police Command to uphold the highest standards of discipline, integrity, professionalism and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.

Kwaimoh gave the charge during his familiarisation and operational tour of the Gombe State Police Command, where he stressed the importance of ethical policing, adherence to the rule of law and maintaining cordial relationships with members of the public.

The AIG was received at the Command Headquarters in Gombe by the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, alongside members of the Command Management Team, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders and other senior officers.

The visit formed part of the AIG’s operational assessment of police commands under Zone 12, comprising Bauchi and Gombe states. According to the Police, the exercise is aimed at evaluating operational readiness, strengthening supervisory mechanisms, reviewing policing strategies and enhancing service delivery across the zone.

During his interaction with officers and personnel, Kwaimoh urged them to remain committed to ethical policing by performing their constitutional responsibilities without fear or favour while respecting the rights of citizens and sustaining public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

He also commended officers and men of the Gombe State Police Command for their efforts in maintaining peace and security in the state, urging them to sustain the momentum and remain vigilant against emerging security threats.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Ahmed Chuso, described the visit as timely and significant, noting that it would boost the morale of officers and further strengthen the Command’s operational effectiveness.

Chuso reaffirmed the Command’s loyalty to the Inspector-General of Police and its commitment to protecting lives and property through intelligence-led policing and stronger collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The Gombe State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents and appealed to members of the public to continue supporting the Police by providing timely, credible and actionable information to aid crime prevention and enhance public safety.
