Gov Buni Approves Employment Of Over 1,000 Medical Students

Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the employment of over 1,000 Medical Students and Allied Health Science Students on training in higher institutions of learning within and outside the country.

The Director General on Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed, in a statement on Tuesday revealed that 294 medical students have been employed on GL 07/2, while 801 Allied Health Science Students were employed on GL 05/2.

“This is to serve as an incentive to support the students to pursue their courses of study with vigour and commitment, and to serve in government health facilities after completion of their studies”

Similarly, the governor has approved the implementation of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) and Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) to the eight state-owned tertiary institutions and other MDAs.

“The beneficiaries include College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Gujba, Galtima Mai Kyari College of Health Science and Technology Nguru, Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery Damaturu, and the College of Administration, Management and Technology, Potiskum”

“Others are Mai Idris Alooma Polytechnic Geidam, Atiku Abubakar College of Education and Legal Studies Nguru, Umar Sulieman College of Education Gashua and other MDAs,” the statement reads in part.

In a related development, Gov. Buni has approved the review of entry point for Veterinary Medical Officers into the state service from CONMESS 2/2 to CONMESS 3/2,  with an upgrade of the existing structure CONMESS 2/2-3/2, 3/1-4/1, 4/1-5/1, 5/1-6/1 and 6/1-7/1.

Similarly, the Governor approved the Consolidated Salary Structure for law officers in the State Ministry of Justice and the placement of judiciary staff on the CONJUSS salary Structure.

The approvals by the Governor were aimed at improving the welfare of the beneficiaries, who are equally expected to be motivated to serve with great commitment to enhance service delivery.
