Channels TV about 3 hours 2 mins read

Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas has approved the immediate suspension of all forms of mining activities across the state.

The decision is based on credible security reports indicating threats capable of undermining the current peace being enjoyed by all citizens and residents of the state.

Consequently, the government will constitute a new task force to ensure security and safety for all responsible mining operations after all security threats have been cleared.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Gebon Kataps, says all local government councils and traditional rulers are hereby directed to ensure strict compliance with this suspension order.

Kataps said that any suspected violation(s) must be reported immediately to the nearest security establishment. The government will view any breach of this directive with serious consequences.

The Taraba State Government has concluded plans to meet with all artisanal miners next week to update them on security measures and vigilance requirements.

He said the government remains committed to protecting lives and property while ensuring that mining activities resume only under a secure and regulated environment.

Citizens are urged to cooperate fully with security agencies and report any suspicious activities, the statement read.
