Green Worship Targets N500m for Vulnerable Children

The ninth edition of Green Worship, the annual benefit concert organised by Concert for Change Foundation, is targeting N500 million to support six organisations providing care and services to vulnerable children across Nigeria.

The concert, scheduled for October 10, 2026, in Lagos, would bring together gospel artistes and worship leaders, including Nathaniel Bassey, Bob Fitts, Ada Ehi, Kaestrings, Pelumi Deborah, Chimdi Ochei, Ccioma and Gospel Force.

The initiative, which was formerly known as Worship for Change, is focused on raising awareness and funding for organisations caring for orphans, children with disabilities and other vulnerable children.

According to the organisers, this year’s N500 million target represents a significant step up from the N55 million raised and disbursed to five charities following Green Worship 8.0 last year.

The five beneficiaries of last year’s intervention received N11 million each, with the funds supporting organisations in Warri, Minna, Lagos, Akure and Uyo.

The foundation said the experience had encouraged it to set a more ambitious target this year, with the N500 million campaign expected to support six organisations: OAKonsult Disabilities Outreach in Ogbomosho; Lokola School for the Deaf and Special Needs; Excellent Child Support Initiative in Ikorodu; Festus Fajemilo Foundation in Abule Egba; AIM Special Children Centre in Kaduna; and Irede Foundation in Lagos.

Speaking on the initiative, Founder and Managing Trustee, Concert for Change Foundation, Wale Adenuga, said the concert was designed to go beyond music, with the ultimate objective being to mobilise resources for children who need support.

“Green Worship has never really been about putting on a great concert. The music gets us into the room, but the children are the reason we are there. There are organisations across Nigeria doing remarkable work with very limited resources. Our job is to shine a light on that work and help put resources in their hands.

“This year, we are daring to believe that together we can raise N500 million and make a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable children.”

Adenuga’s comments underscore the thinking behind the foundation’s decision to increase its fundraising ambition sharply this year. Rather than relying on a single large donor, Concert for Change is calling on individuals, families, companies, churches and organisations to contribute towards the target.

The foundation said the objective was not simply to raise a large amount of money but to translate the funds into tangible interventions, including therapy, education, mobility assistance, healthcare and improved facilities for vulnerable children.

Since its establishment in 2006, Concert for Change said it has raised and disbursed more than N210 million, supported 49 charities and positively impacted over 8,000 children across Nigeria.

The organisation also operates a model built around transparency, with beneficiary organisations selected and verified before funds are disbursed, while follow-up is conducted on how the resources are deployed.

Green Worship 9.0 will be free to attend, although registration will be required. The doors will open at 4:30p.m., ahead of the 5p.m. concert.

Beyond the concert itself, the foundation will commence its 21 Days of Giving campaign on October 11, providing another opportunity for individuals and organisations to contribute towards the N500 million target.
