United States President, Donald Trump, has endorsed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for re-election, describing him as a strong and reliable leader who has demonstrated courage in the face of domestic and international opposition.
Trump made the endorsement in an open letter addressed to the people of Israel and published on his Truth Social platform on Sunday.
In the letter, Trump praised Netanyahu’s leadership, particularly his role in confronting Iran, and warned that the United States might have to take sole responsibility for dealing with Tehran if Israel elected a different prime minister.
“Please let this Letter serve to represent my Complete and Total Endorsement of Bibi Netanyahu in his upcoming Race for Re-Election as Prime Minister of Israel. BIBI NETANYAHU WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Trump wrote.
The US president described Netanyahu as a “Great Warrior Prime Minister” and a key partner in efforts to counter Iran, accusing the Islamic Republic of maintaining a longstanding hostile stance towards Israel and the United States.
Trump argued that Iran’s repeated threats against the two countries could not be ignored, claiming that the country had been systematically weakened militarily and financially.
He warned that unless Tehran changed its policies quickly, the United States would continue efforts to defeat it.
The American president also praised Netanyahu for withstanding pressure from political opponents, including critics within Israel, saying the Israeli leader had grown stronger despite the challenges.
Trump said Netanyahu represented the kind of partner Washington expected from Israel, a country he said had received substantial support from the United States.
The endorsement comes amid continuing tensions between Israel and Iran, with security cooperation and military confrontation remaining central to relations between the two countries and their respective allies.
