England head coach, Thomas Tuchel, has defended defender Ben White after he was booed by sections of the Wembley crowd in the friendly 1-1 draw with Uruguay on Friday.

White was booed during the encounter at Wembley Stadium.

Recall that goals from White and Federico Valverde ensured both England and Uruguay drew.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Tuchel admitted he was disappointed as the Arsenal player was booed by the fans.

“I’m disappointed, because of course we protect our players,” Tuchel said.

“Ben was excellent in camp; he deserved to come on. We will always protect Ben.

“He is ready to write some new chapters, and we are ready to give him the chance.”
