The father of late singer Mohbad has weighed in on the ongoing family dispute surrounding the burial of late gospel singer Toluwanisings, urging the public to exercise caution before passing judgment.
In a video shared by Gistloverblog, he expressed sadness over Toluwanisings’ death while questioning the values parents are passing on to their children.
He said, “Everything we do in this world must be approached with caution. I will not speak directly about the late gospel singer Toluwanisings, whose death has left me deeply saddened. However, I want us to reflect on an important question: What lessons are we teaching our children?”
Referencing one of his songs, he maintained that parents should be allowed to enjoy the fruits of their sacrifices, saying, “Let the owner of the child reap the reward of their child.”
He added that after the sacrifices and struggles parents go through in raising their children, they deserve to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Reacting to comparisons between the controversy and the case of his late son, Mohbad, he said some families face even more complicated situations.
“Some people have compared the situation to the case of Mohbad, but there are families whose challenges are even more complicated than what happened in that case. This is why we must be careful about passing judgment on situations we do not fully understand,” he said.
He further referenced another of his songs about a father wearing rags while his child wears expensive clothes, explaining that children may eventually understand their parents’ sacrifices.
He added, “People are saying Toluwanisings’ case is like Mohbad’s but his father lives in a place where he pays ₦35k as rent while his mother-in-law lives in a house with AC. His wife married him and turned him against his family.”
