Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has disclosed that Lere Olayinka, media aide to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, was among more than 10,000 Nigerians who submitted their account details after he invited people to participate in a giveaway.
In a video he posted on his Facebook page, Fayose criticised supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, claiming that they are also experiencing economic hardship in the country despite their support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He stated that he recently announced a N1 million giveaway and asked interested Nigerians to drop their account numbers.
“More than 10,000 people responded to the offer, including Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike,” he said.
According to the businessman, he decided to send a monetary gift to Olayinka after he dropped his account details, explaining that his decision was intended to demonstrate that even those who support the ruling party are not insulated from the country's economic challenges.
Questioning the participation of APC supporters in the giveaway, Fayose suggested that their willingness to receive financial assistance contradicted claims that the economy was performing well.
He maintained that Nigerians face similar economic realities regardless of their political affiliations, noting that both supporters and critics of the government buy fuel from the same market, use the same hospitals and experience the effects of the country's economic difficulties.
