‘I completely trust the club,’ says Man City boss Maresca

Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca on Friday said that he had absolute faith in the club after it was found guilty of more than 100 breaches of Premier League financial rules.

The Italian said at his first press conference since the announcement last week: “I completely trust the club”.

An independent commission said that City had arranged “sham” contracts with a number of their commercial partners to artificially inflate revenues and reduce costs over a nine-season period, between 2009 and 2018.

The 10-time English champions, who continue to deny any wrongdoing, are appealing against the judgement.

Maresca, who replaced Pep Guardiola as head coach of City in June, said the club’s titles were “absolutely not” tainted as he spoke to reporters ahead of Sunday’s match at Liverpool.
