President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending an extended period in Europe, putting to rest speculation surrounding his health and assuring Nigerians that he is fit and ready to get back to work.
The President arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday evening, with his aircraft touching down at about 6pm. He briefly spoke with journalists shortly after his arrival.
Asked about how he spent his time away, Tinubu simply responded, “I enjoyed myself.”
Addressing reports and rumours about his health, the President dismissed the concerns, saying political rumours were inevitable but insisting that he remained in good shape.
“Rumours will always emanate from politics. The fact remains that I’m here, healthy, sound and ready to go. Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong,” he said.
The President was welcomed at the airport by several senior political figures, including Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abas Tajudeen, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
