I produced my first film at 18 — Feyisara Hassan

Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Feyisara Hassan has revealed that she produced her first film at the age of 18, marking an early start to a career that has seen her combine acting with film production and entrepreneurship.

Hassan, who began her journey in the Nigerian film industry in 2011, said she was introduced to the profession under the mentorship of popular Yoruba actor, Damola Olatunji.

Speaking in an interview with Potpourri, the actress said she has produced more than seven films since venturing into filmmaking.

“I produced my first movie at the age of 18. So far, I have produced movies like Ipinlese, Fikayomi, Rokun Rosa, Asian Ife, Aiye Asan, Tife Bankole and Shelve,” she said.

Beyond acting and film production, Hassan has also ventured into the food business with the establishment of FH Bakery, an independently owned bakery.

Explaining her decision to diversify into business, the actress said she wanted an additional source of income that would allow her to maintain her lifestyle without depending on a man.

“I have to do this to make more money for myself because I don’t want to depend on any man to live. Acting doesn’t give much unless you want to sleep around, which I don’t want to do,” she said.

According to Hassan, the financial realities of acting also influenced her decision to establish a business that could generate regular income.

“We earn very little from acting and I love expensive things, so I have to open my own business to support my lifestyle and not depend on any man for it. Also, I need a business that brings daily money,” she added.

Hassan’s journey from producing her first film as a teenager to combining acting, film production and entrepreneurship reflects her efforts to build multiple income streams within and beyond Nollywood.
