Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has described former military Head of State, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, IBB, as a great Nigerian.
He said this was despite the former military ruler sending him and some other citizens to prison.
Sani insisted that IBB’s infrastructural development strides remained unmatched in Nigeria.
He made the post on X while celebrating IBB who turned 85.
Sani wrote: “IBB as a young man gorgeously dressed in Kaduna in 1969. Even though he sent some of us to prison in the 90s, he is still a great Nigerian, unequalled in infrastructural development. I wish him a happy 85th birthday.”
Sani, a human rights activist and former vice chairman of the Campaign for Democracy, was sent to prison in 1994.
He was initially arrested in October 1994 and later sentenced to life imprisonment by a military tribunal for treason.
