Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of financing arrangements for the Ibom Deep Sea Port as a defining moment in the state’s economic development.
He stated this in a statewide broadcast following the President’s visit to Akwa Ibom on Friday, November 6, during which he announced approval for the project.
Governor Eno said the deep seaport would serve as a gateway to economic transformation, opening up opportunities in international trade, investment, industrial growth and employment.
He expressed confidence that the project would reposition Akwa Ibom as a major economic and maritime hub in Nigeria and the Gulf of Guinea.
Governor Eno thanked President Tinubu for his confidence in the state and commitment to national development, assuring him of the Akwa Ibom State Government’s full cooperation towards the successful realisation of the project.
He described the approval as a significant step in the state’s economic journey and said the government recognised the responsibility that came with the opportunity.
The governor also commended residents for their participation in the President’s visit, noting that the reception reflected Akwa Ibom’s reputation as a peaceful, welcoming and investment-ready state.
He expressed appreciation to traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, youths, women, security agencies, public servants, students and other groups who contributed to the successful hosting of the President.
On the forthcoming 2027 general election, he pledged that Akwa Ibom people would support President Tinubu at the polls on January 16, 2027, as part of efforts to ensure continuity in the administration beginning May 29, 2027.
He ended the broadcast by thanking the President for his support and urging residents to remain committed to the state’s development, declaring: “Together, we will ARISE, build and prosper.”
