Iheanacho Reacts After Making History By Scoring In 10 Consecutive Turkey Matches

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho has reacted on social media after making history in Turkey, posting a picture of himself in traditional Turkish dress with a new nickname, “Agabey”.

Iheanacho posted the picture on Instagram after scoring twice and providing an assist as Bursaspor beat Muglaspor 3-0 in the Turkish 1. Lig on Thursday. The caption read, “We go ball till eternity, Kelechi Agabey.”

The word is a respectful Turkish title that translates as “Big Brother” or “Boss”.

The 30-year-old has now scored in 10 consecutive league matches, and he is the first player to do so in Turkish professional league football.

He has scored in all 10 games he has played for Bursaspor, including in his appearance for the Super Eagles, he has found the net in 11 straight matches. He has 14 goals and three assists since joining from Celtic.

The former Manchester City and Leicester City striker thought he had opened the scoring in the 51st minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.

He made no mistake seven minutes later to make it 1-0, completed his brace in the 79th minute and then set up substitute Hüseyin Maldar for the third goal four minutes later.

The win lifts Bursaspor to second in the Turkish 1. Lig with 22 points, which is two ahead of third-placed Iğdır FK and three behind leaders Kayserispor.

That position is one of the two automatic promotion places to the Turkish Super Lig. They host Pendikspor on Monday.
